What we're drinking - Budweiser Reserve Copper Lager
Once again, we gave our 21 and older team members some homework. This month, Nick, Eddie and Sean sampled a new offering from Budweiser, a Reserve Copper Lager that is aged on Jim Beam Bourbon Barrel Staves. Here are their thoughts:
· Type: Red Lager
· ABV: 6.2%
Budweiser's description: This is a flavorful American Copper Lager brewed with Two-row Barley and aged on real Jim Beam Bourbon barrel staves for a toasted Oak aroma, a deliciously nutty taste with Caramel Rye and Vanilla notes, and a smooth finish.
Nick: This lager has a sweet taste that is light on malt and brings a smooth finish. Not hoppy and even though it’s 6.2% ABV, you don’t taste it.
Eddie: A nice smooth drinking lager with a little extra kick. Dark amber in color and very malty, I thought there was a hint of bourbon in the finish, which was quite subtle compared to other barrel aged beers.
Sean: As someone who enjoys Budweiser and the occasional whiskey, this beer was excellent. The flavors were sweet and smoky. This is one of my favorites so far. (Note: Sean has indicated he may buy a case of this, so if you’re interested, hurry up).
