What we're drinking - Great Lakes Conway's Irish Ale
This month, Nick, Herb, Craig and Chris tasted Great Lakes' Conway's Irish Ale. Their thoughts are below and, as always, our homework is better than yours.
Name: Great Lakes Conway's Irish Ale
Style: Irish Ale
Great Lakes' description: An Irish Ale with full-bodied caramel malt flavors.
Nick: Conway's was the first craft beer that I ever tasted, so it has a special place in my heart. This is a malt heavy brew, that has big flavor with a really smooth finish. Tastes a little bit like Jameson Irish whiskey at the finish.
Nick actually had a LOT MORE to say about this beer and we try to keep these write ups on the shorter side, so ask him about Conway's the next time you stop in.
Herb: Very malty with a lot of caramel flavor, but not too overpowering. I prefer hoppy beers, but liked this a lot. I would recommend this to anyone looking for something new, malty or both.
Craig: My favorite ale. Very smooth with a great blend of caramel malt flavor and hops. Excellent finish with no harsh aftertaste. Try this in a glass to really enjoy the color.
Chris: It's been a while since I haven't had something really dark or fairly hoppy (usually very hoppy), but this was excellent. Very drinkable and the caramel stands out above all else. The color was interesting and it smelled even better. I really enjoyed this one.
